DUEM teamed up with the Durham University’s Science Outreach team to launch our new program at the Schools Science festival from 27th – 29th March. Over the three days, the team delivered one-hour interactive presentations to over 65 students from local schools attending the festival.

The presentation focused on an activity based around designing and presenting a solar plane, then comparing it to the record-breaking Solar Impulse. Throughout the presentation we also demonstrated the achievements of our solar car, along with some of the places in the world the car has taken our team. The sessions were very well received with one comment saying that the ‘Solar Activity was my favourite activity’. Linda Campbell from Science Outreach said: “One comment which was repeated numerous times throughout the student feedback forms was how nice, friendly and helpful all the demonstrators and staff were”. DUEM look forward to building on success in the years ahead and continue to inspire the next generation of STEM students.
