DUEM Visits Whitworth Park

DUEM's Solar Car at Whitworth Park with their Greenpower TeamDUEM inspires students at Whitworth Park

Following on from a very successful presentation at St Peter’s School in York, DUEM took their solar car to Whitworth Park School in Spennymoor. Throughout the day, DUEM gave talks to all year groups, ensuring all ages got up-close experience of our state-of-the-art solar car. We received some fantastic questions and were thrilled at the response from the students.

Not only that, but Whitworth Park are one of the schools to enter the prestigious Greenpower IET Formula 24 Competition. We spent a great deal of time with their team, passing on experience and tips that we had learnt from our solar racing. We wish the team every success with their regional heat at Croft Circuit in July this year.

St Peter’s School

St Peters York

St Peter’s York, 1st March 2016

DUEM were delighted to speak at a public lecture to St Peter’s School on Tuesday 1st March at 7pm entitled Blood, Sweat & Carbon. Oliver Headlam-Morley, our team principal, is an Old Peterite. Having recently returned from the World Solar Challenge, he detailed our experiences crossing the Australian Outback, and the engineering challenges involved in building a solar powered vehicle. Finally, he gave a glimpse into our exciting future ambitions.

It was a fantastic opportunity for us to inspire the next generation of engineers, entrepreneurs and others who dare to think different & we look forward to yet more in the months ahead!

Bruntingthorpe Launch Event

Bruntinhthorpe Launch Event

Bruntingthorpe Launch Event

DUEM launched our brand new solar car to  guests & media at Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground on Sunday 9th August 2015. It was a truly spectacular event with the car being launched in Hangar 42; a 36,000 sq.ft hangar, followed by testing on the race track. Bruntingthorpe has the longest privately run runway in the whole of the UK & we used it to great advantage. This was especially the case as our great sponsor, Jaguar Land Rover, provided 2 beautiful F-Types to accompany the car & provided attendees with an opportunity to speed around the circuit. Take a look at our Gallery page for more photos & keep your eyes posted for updates about our solar car’s progress to Australia!

Tonbridge School

Tonbridge School

15th June at Tonbridge School, Kent

Following on from DUEM’s incredibly successful visit to Motorexpo, the team visited Tonbridge School. We showcased our solar car to the assembled staff, pupils & parents, leaving many stunned as to the feat we were attempting and the car we had designed. We made some great contacts, and certainly, we think, inspired the next generation of engineers! We are extremely grateful to Tonbridge School for letting us showcase our car there. We look forward to returning soon with a car that has been to Australia & raced 3000km. You can find out more about Tonbridge at www.tonbridge-school.co.uk
