For a team based in Durham, there is admittedly very little room to drive our Solar Cars in the local area… or so we thought. In 2022, the team decided to do our testing a little closer to home.
Instead of heading out to one of our usual testing tracks, we decided that the space outside the Durham Cathedral and Castle, formally known as Palace Green, provided the perfect space for some high-speed, high-performance, racecar testing.
Over the course of the day, the team gathered useful information about the systems within the car, with lots of analysis pointing us to further improvements. We also showcased the car to members of the university and the public, who were incredibly intrigued by what was going on.
And best of all, we even had some extra time to grab a few photos with some truly stunning backdrops. Until next time, Palace Green…
